ASK THE PTA

NOVEMBER 2010: Given the current economy is our fund-raising comparable to previous years? If we fall short what happens, or should I ask, what won't happen?.
So far we have netted $1,500 on the Pumpkin Festival, and raised around $1,800 on the direct appeal, other miscellaneous fundraisers such as membership, merchandise, snack shack have so far raised around $2,000. Last year we were able to raise about $20,000 in the first few months on Direct Appeal alone, so we could say that Direct Appeal is not doing quite as well this year. We really need the help of our community here, and by supporting us you are really supporting the kids. Any contribution you can make to the "Change for Change" campaign is greatly appreciated. If we are unable to raise close to what we raised last year, we will have to start thinking about what the PTA won't be able to fund next year. We currently fund a grade level field trip bus for each grade, Teacher's Assistants for at least 1 hour in each classroom-5 days a week (partially paid for by Friends of Mt.Washington), Focus Fish (our PE program) once a week for each grade, several scholarships to after-school programs, after-school homework help and organized sports for 1 hour- 5 days a week, 6th grade culmination, classroom enhancements for each class, playground equipment and other small miscellaneous items. You can view our pie chart and breakdown of current funding for this school year here. If you would like to be on our budget committee to help determine next year's budget please be on the lookout for the selection of that committee. It's difficult to say how much we will raise over the course of this year, as there are still months to go, but we are always optimistic that our parents will come through. As always we thank you for your support!
